And just like that…….it’s 2018. Where do I begin guys???

Firstly this is just a personal post as I wanted to catch up with you all. I went ‘missing’ for nearly a month, when I mean missing I just wasn’t on social media. I was extremely sick mid December which some of you may have known from my Snapchat & this continued right up until just after Christmas. I was so unwell that I couldn’t think of anything worse than ‘pretending’ I was ok on social media. I know that half the country are super sick so if you’re sick, I FEEL YOU! The amount of lovely messages of concern was incredible & those that messaged on Instagram, Facebook & Snapchat you know who you all are, thank you so so much. A lot of you thought I may have broken up with my handsome man & vanished but I assure you that’s far from the case I am firmly still with Sean. I am feeling much MUCH better & slowly getting back to myself.

So it may be the 5th of January and I’m only finishing this post but better late than never I say.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Mine was quiet enough spent with my family. I was a bit like the dog in the GIF above 🙂 It was lovely being at home this year as last year I spent it in the French Alps. It’s truly magical waking up to the snow on Christmas morning & getting to snowboard down the mountain on Christmas Day. I think I would definitely like to experience that again. Some of you may know that I was due to go to Iceland this week. We made a decision in December to cancel this trip as I just wasn’t well enough. I think we are planning Iceland for the end of the year now instead. We are however off to Edinburgh next weekend to visit Sean’s friends, David & Melissa. I went to Edinburgh a few years back but unfortunately I was very sick the weekend we were there and ended up bed bound for pretty much the entire visit. This actually makes me sound like I am always sick but I just think when I get sick, I GET SICK. I’m really looking forward to Edinburgh, although I heard it’s FREEZING at the moment there so I’ll definitely be wrapping up warm.

At the end of December I done a blog post on my GOALS for 2018. You can read it HERE. Every year I write down a list of things that I plan to do in that year and want to achieve. Some are quite small, others quite big. I believe in setting goals to strive towards and to have a focus on each year. You can go through life from one year to the next and I suppose for some people that’s fine if that is what you want. For me it’s different, I think we are given one life & one life only and we should LIVE IT! A friend’s mum once said to me how much she loved my ambition to make the most of everything in life and that I am always on the go. It’s TRUE! I am always planning my next adventure or trying out something new. I don’t think there is anything wrong with striving for more, ALWAYS. I don’t want an ordinary life nor do I plan to live one. I want to live my life to the fullest and make the most of every opportunity that comes my way.

My friend sent me a screenshot of a group on Facebook recently and a girl had put up me as someone she really enjoyed to watch on Snapchat and I have to say I was absolutely thrilled. I am always just me on Snapchat and really love doing it. I went off Snapchat completely last year as I just didn’t have the same love for it as when I started. I came back in October and I am delighted I did. I promise you’ll see more of me on Snapchat this year.

I’m still off work until mid-February and I won’t lie I am actually really looking forward to being back in work. I’ll be back permanent now so won’t be let go again. Some say it’s a blessing and others would say different. It’s been nice having two winters off and last year I really made the most of it by living in France. This year I have saved my butt off as we are set to move into our house in March. I have a few different bids in for different trips so fingers crossed I get those. I really want to go to Toronto and see the Niagara Falls. It looks spectacular and somewhere I have always wanted to go see. I went to Toronto twice last year but with the trips being one night trips I couldn’t go to Niagara. I’m dying to go to Washington this year too. I can’t bid for Washington at the moment as it’s currently on the 757 and I’m not trained on that aircraft but I reckon we will go on a trip in April. I had lots of you messaging me over the past two months in regards to interviews and I hope that those of you that got to interview stage, that it all went well. I love hearing from you so keep me posted.

I briefly mentioned HOUSE and yes we are moving in together!!! AHHHH!!!!! I know it’s a massive step but I feel like I’ve known Sean years so it’s totally fine. We practically live together anyway but obviously this will be us on our own. He’s a neat freak like me so it’s perfect. We’ve already bought so much for the house. We have fully thought out all floors and paint with a little help from my friend Pinterest. We have such similar taste it’s great, so picking everything has been really easy. I can’t wait to share with you all everything we have decided on. I think I showed some of our inspiration over on my Snapchat back in November and SO many of you screenshot the photos.

My first logo TOP and my current logo BOTTOM

Another really exciting thing that is beginning in March is The Secret Obsession rebrand. I asked you guys at the end of last year to either remain with my current style or change and it was a majority vote YES to change. I have already begun talks with a web developer and we begin at the start of March. It will be totally different to what I currently have and much fresher/cleaner. Above you can see what I started out with in 2013 and then in 2014 I rebranded with my new logo & website. I think after 4 years it’s time for another overhaul. My personal style have evolved so much since I started TSO so I felt myself it badly needed a revamp. I can’t wait to show you what we come up with. I’ve also lots of content ideas for blog posts that I want to share too on the new website. I think this year I am going to focus a lot on personal posts and travel posts. They are the two that attract the most readership. I will also have a posting schedule which I think is best for you guys too and gives more consistency.

On an end note, I want you all to realise that being flexible with your plans/goals is key this year. I started 2017 with a very different mindset and not everything went to plan. My nine year relationship ended and the path I thought I was taking came to a t-junction. You can plan until you’re heart is content but that doesn’t mean it will work out that way. I genuinely had the next 5 years planned out for myself and then it all went to shit. This whole thing has made me live in the moment a lot more. I treat every day as it comes and plan accordingly. If there is one thing any of you take away from my whole situation last year is that if something goes wrong, that doesn’t mean it’s the end of everything. Your life may seem at rock bottom but only YOU can turn it around. Happiness is a choice, not a result. Nothing will make you happy until you choose to be happy. No person will make you happy until you decide to be happy yourself. Your happiness will not come to you, it will only come FROM you.

Love Aoibhe xxx
