So since I have been off work in October, I have been trying out loads of different fake tans from mousse tans to spray tans, lotion tans and more. I’ve tried lots from different brands and basically wanted to come on and share my thoughts on what I found. I believe that different tans suit different skin tones and it doesn’t necessarily mean, what works for me, will work for you. Everyones skin is different and takes to fake tan in different ways. My skin is ridiculously pale (typical Irish girl) so I am naturally like a milk bottle. I have been wearing fake tan for as long as I can remember. My first ever tan was the fabulous Rimmel Sun Shimmer in the darkest shade I could find. I will never forget going to a wedding aged 13 and wearing it. I was literally the darkest I think I have ever been and let’s just say two layers later I still felt pale. I still to this day have no idea what I was thinking.
As my daily tan, I use Cocoa Brown Instant Tan Bronzing Gel in Matte. It works so nicely on my skin and especially if you want to just be able to wash it off easily, it’s very handy.
This is me after two coats of the bronzing gel, very natural and sits well with my normally makeup too.
So what are my thoughts on the tans below……..Read more to find out.
bBold Tan Lotion
This tan comes out dark instantly so you can not only be bronzed immediately but you can see exactly where you are putting it. It can develop quite quickly which is great but if you put it on before a night out and go out with it on, you can be VERY DARK by the time you are coming home. I done this once and let’s just say, I learned my lesson. I got darker and darker as the night went on, it was very funny. bBold makes my skin quite flawless after leaving it overnight. If you ever see a tan that just gives your skin nearly ‘a makeup look’ this is one of those tans.
Overall I’d give it an 8/10 mainly because it can be hard to wash off after.
Bellamianta Self Tanning Tinted Lotion
You put this lotion on before going to bed and wash off the next day like most developing tans. I also found this quite makeup like too. When I washed it off the next day, it was lighter than expected so I put on another coat. Normally I would be happy with the one coat but going on holidays I always like to look darker so for example in Lisbon (below) that was a two coat look. It was really deep and exactly what I wanted. I practically looked Portuguese, it was fabulous 😉 I remember I couldn’t get a spray tan before this trip so this was the next best thing. Another hard one to get off but sometimes I think it could be my skin. I find that the Bellamianta spray comes off the easiest out of them all.
Overall I’d give it an 8/10 like the bBold one mainly because it can be hard to wash off after but I ADORE the colour of it.
This is me after putting it on TWICE before my trip to Lisbon. As you can see it’s really dark after two coats.
Bellamianta Intense Dark SPRAY
Ok I most definitely think this has to be my favourite spray tan EVER!!! I got this for the first time last June have got sprayed with it every holiday since apart from Lisbon. I adore it. I get two sprays of it, wait overnight and wash off the next day. With the dark, it really lasts and the colour is so deep. It’s very similar to a dark natural tan I think and I felt really good wearing it. I personally always will prefer a spray over an at home tan but sometimes it’s not always possible.
You can get this done in salons nationwide. I get mine done in Kiwi Sun in Swords.
Overall I’d give it a 10/10 as it’s flawless and comes off so easy.
This is my tan on the skin after I got it done.
Catwalk HQ Tan Mousse Medium
I tried this for the first time before Christmas and although I am not a HUGE fan of mousse anymore, I did like it. I don’t know why maybe it’s from using so many lotions lately. The colour is DEEP so even if you go with the medium you’ll still be super glowing. It wears off similar to the others but I did really love the colour of this. Unfortunately I got no photos of me wearing it as I was sick all over Christmas and couldn’t think of anything worse than getting a photo. Beware of your hands with this, my fault completely I went a bit overboard. If you love a deep tan though and like a mousse, this is for you.
Overall I’d give it an 8/10 only because it’s a mousse but I did LOVE the colour.
SunKiss Instant Self Tanning Mousse
Another mousse for you and this one I have to say even being a mousse, I really loved. It gives you a glow immediately. I woke up one day a few weeks back not feeling great and popped this on. I was instantly bronzed and it didn’t smell (always a bonus). As I am very pale, this worked great on my skin for a natural bronze look. I think if I was going out, I might do two layers of it.
Overall I’d give this a 9/10 just because it was so handy and dried in so quick.
Iconic Bronze Tanning Lotion Medium
Another make me feel good tan. I got sent this a few months back and have been trying it out for a good while now. I love everything about this tan from it’s immediate colour to how quick it dries to the look the next morning. It doesn’t make my hands look crazy and looks so natural. Sean commented that he liked it too so it must be nice 😀 But the medium is most definitely good for everyday. I am going to try out the mousse next week and see how I go.
Overall I’d give it a 10/10 because it’s so natural but yet gives you a healthy glow.
Bellamianta Skin Perfecting Instant Tan
Another Bellamianta tan that I got sent in a gift set before Christmas. I tried this initially on my hands, neck and feet. This was mainly because these were the only parts of my body on show at the time and at first I found it quite thick for an instant tan. The more I used it, I liked it. It does have a makeup feel to it so I wouldn’t be a massive fan of this even though the coverage is amazing. I just found it ‘sat’ on my skin a bit which I didn’t love. It kind of reminded me of Sally Hansen which I just am not a fan of.
Overall I’d give it an 5/10 because even though the coverage is good, I didn’t love the feel. I prefer the Bellamianta Spray tans & Lotion way more 🙂
So another honest post giving you my thoughts on 7 tans I’ve been testing out. I as always want to be as transparent with you all and give you my honest opinion. I never want you to waste your money on products/services. At the end of the day, it’s your hard earned money and you need to spend it wisely.
My winner has to be the Bellamianta Spray Tan or the Iconic Bronze Medium Lotion.
Happy Tanning 😀
